    hi all

I would be very grateful for any advice anybody can give me. i have had carers allowance for the last 5 years for my daughter. She has adhd, social problems and an intellectual disability. She attends a special needs school. She has just turned 16, so my carers was reviewed. They have now sent me a leeter to say my claim has been disallowed. I am at my wits end, I had to give up my full time job in the civil service a couple of years ago to look after my daughter. I don't know what to do next. Can anyone give me some advice. I am so worried about this.

Thank you for your replies. i have sent an appeal but I am not holding much hope. I am so frustrated at the way they just brush off my daughters problems. They do not care about anyone

Hi again, the wait for carers allowance at the moment is anything up to a year plus the appeals process can take up to months, so you could be in for a long slog sorry, if youring they'll just brush you off but keep the faith and don't give up hope.... Best of luck.

I just rang the carers allowance dept. regarding an application made on 28th June this year. I was told they are only dealing with Nov 2011 at the moment, and it would be 'well into' 2013 before I would hear anyword back. This was an 'appeals' application. Mind you if it's back dated to time of application then all is not lost......it's the waiting & not knowing....
