Name stickers on DJ laptops or gear.

DVS or controller guys, do you put name stickers or other stickers on your laptop?

I have been thinking of getting my logo printed onto stickers, the main one being for the lid of my laptop. I feel a little cringe about it as I'm not really 'showy' but I want to make more of a push now and start putting mini drops in my mixes and getting my logo on some of my gear and anywhere else appropriate for a little recognition. Two hip hop djs I know have their names on theirs and say it is useful when they play partys and gigs.

The 'building a brand' feels a bit weird but I read an interesting article about in either DJtechtools.com or Digitaldjtips.com, forget which, and I got me thinking about it more.

Anyone do this or have opinions on it's usefulness?

I would say do it. You've nothing to lose. Plus it will draw attention to your logo.

    you could try http://www.wrappz.ie/

they do custom skins for a wide range of laptops and phones. might be able to sort ya out with what youre looking for.

djdunny, thanks for the link. The stuff on 12inchskins.com is a bit too involved (for anyone who has seen the site, worth a look just to see though) and I'd rather give a few bob to some one in Ireland.

I think its very very hard for dj to build up a profile these days. You have to offer alot more than just being a good dj unfortunately.

If your seriously considering building a brand and not just content with DJing being a fun pasttime with the odd gig here and there your best bet is to start getting to grips with production.

Your sticker idea is as good or bad an idea as wearing a t shirt with your logo on it.

I'd be against wearing a T-Shirt but I think a discrete logo on your laptop is no harm. I wouldn't make it huge though i.e. The entire lid. Before my laptop got stolen, I put stickers from software packages or websites I used. I had planned on putting a small logo for myself on there too. Wasn't really about branding, it was more so if a photo was taken someone might have half a chance of finding out who I was etc. I think major logos are only for when someone has built some serious rep (Or is a VERY good act) as I feel unless the act backs up the logo, it can look pretentious.
