Strange one this morning - was up at 7am letting the dog out and heard a loud crash. Went outside and saw a car after driving into a neighbours wall. Front of the car was in a bad way and the airbag did its job - the driver seemed fine and was out of the car when I got there.

The driver was late 20's dressed well and intent on walking away. I reported it to the gardai but it took them 30mins to arrive and by then yer man was well gone. I Wonder would they go straight to his home address and breath test him if he was there or would that have to be done at the scene?

Depends on the circumstances around whether the driver just left or spoke to the owner of the house etc first? If he just upp'ed and left its potentially leaving the scene of an accident

7am is the new shift hand over time. Thats why there was a delay.

Any damage to property and the driver has to speak to the owners. Wonder had he a bit of a hangover from the night before?

If he didn't speak to the owner of the property he can be charged/summonsed for leaving the scene of an accident and not reporting an accident.

The Gardai would usually call to the registered owners house and look to speak to the owner, find out what happened, who was driving the car, etc and go from there with a number of different outcomes.

The house wall he crahed into is under refurb and was vacant at the time - he made a good job of the wall the plasterers finished the day before :(

Sounds like leaving the scene of an accident, then again he could have rang the Garda station and explained he crashed into a wall, no one was injured and the house is vacant. Might have told him to call into the station later.

The drink thing sounds about right, would it be hard to crash into this wall?

They wouldnt breath test him because no one actually seen him driving, sounds silly but how can you give evidence of drunk driving without witnessing such driving.

To be honest as long as he is happy to make amends for the wall and no one else is injured it will probably be left at that.
