    Hi All,

I have prices from a few agents and did a few myself for Cancun & Vegas as they seem to be the most popular twin centres around but I would welcome suggestions for other spots.

We want a city experience for 3/4 nights and a beach holiday for 7-9 nights.

Are there are other suggestions people would have?

We are not interested in Europe or South East Asia.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi BeerBaron,

If you are thinking of Mexico, I would recommend Playa Del Carmen instead of Cancun. It is only 35 miles to the south. In Cancun, the hotel zone is well outside the city and is really only hotels and not much else. Playa Del Carmen is a lovely size town with lots of hotels, bars, nightclubs & restaurants. I just looked it up on TripAdvisor and it is the Travellers Choice 2012 winner, so that is quite a good recommendation!

What about Havana, Cuba as your city destination. The flights from Cancun is only 1.5 hours. I had an amazing time exploring the city. The history, architecture, atmosphere & the music were fantastic.

Thanks but my missus has her heart set on Vegas / New York and you cannot fly between the USA and Cuba because of the weird outdated embargo so Cuba is out.

Virgin used to do lots of two centre breaks. A friend did Orlando and Antigua with them and loved it.

Yes, agents are pushing Virgin because they have a Sale on right now. At the moment I can find flights for 2 adults return to LAX for €998 and that's with Air France/Delta so across the pond seems to be winning right now.

I'm on holidays next week(staycation) so think I'll pick up some brochures tomorrow to pass the time.

After a lot of research and haggling of different companies I finally settled on booking with Topflight even though originally they were out of the question because they were way over the top expensive.

We settled on Cancun and Vegas in the end but as we plan to marry in 2014 we said we would do something like Dominican Rep & New York then.

It's actually quite amazing how easy you can get travel agents to work for you when you can show them quotes from their competition and considering we were flexible on dates.
