There is software out there to recover permanently deleted files but I'm not sure about overwritten files. Its worth a try if the file is important. You should try google for file recovery software or your local computer shop may have the software for it.

The files are IN the computer...

I doubt the file itself is overwritten in memory, file memory was marked as available to be overwritten. Best bet is to install a program to find deleted/formatted files and search for your important one. You'll probably have to use another computer to avoid accidentally copying over that important memory location.

..When you overwrite a file it is not overwritten. The space it is on becomes free space and can be overwritten. Don't use the PC for anything else until you get software to recover the video which, as halloween says, is still actually on your computer - just not available to you

...Don't use your computer AT ALL until you head the advise above. Get an undeleter. Preferably surf for it on a different computer. The more you use your computer, the more the chance that you will lose yer video forever.
