Mac not booting

My old Powerbook G4 turns on & I get the spinning wheel. However it won't then go on to the log in screen. Eventually it goes to a plain blue screen & the spinning wheel returns. Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

Try booting from an OS install disc and if it boots from that, use the disc utility via the top menu to check the HD.

You could try resetting the pmu.

I'd say your HDD is failing

No it's worse than that. I managed to run a hardware test & there is a fault on the logic board so it's probably terminal.
