HWV Crucial SSD: Occasional 'A disk read error occurred' Message

I bought a machine from HWV after some great advice and help from people here. (see my last reply in http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056623999 for the final build).

The machine has been working really well and has been very reliable. However, once about a month ago and again this morning I get the message when I boot that "a disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart". The machine has a Crucial M4 256GB SSD 6,4cm (2,5") with Win7 on it. Any thread I have read about this message always tends to point towards a hardware issue; however in those threads the message comes up every time the machine boots whereas I've rebooted at least 20-30 times between the first time the message appeared and the second and can't replicate it again since. I ran a checkdisk but it didn't find anything.

I've had no other problems with the machine (no BSODs or lockups/freezes and only one OS crash that I can recall). There's no HD diagnostic tool on Crucial's site so I'm not sure what to do next. It's rare at present but I am just wondering if it is an early sign of an underlying hardware issue & if I should think about getting a replacement from HWV now in case it becomes unreadable or could it be more firmware/BIOS related?

    Some more info:
-SSD is first in the boot order on the BIOS
    -cables are secured
-is not running the latest firmware revision (but update notes between current version I have and latest version does not mention this issue)

fairly sure crucial do have an SSD tool box.

I'd start with changing the sata cable and the sata port its plugged into.

Are you hibernating? I've had a problem with disappearing SSD from the BIOS with similar errors. Tried two different SSDs and there's the same problem. Everything works normal otherwise.

Sorry to drag up this old thread, but Im having the same problem.
At first it said Disc error occured, I use an SSD as my main drive, but now its not booting at all. Come to think of it I started hibernating around two weeks ago. Is their anything that can be done to save the ssd now or should I just buy a new one Monotype?

    My error now reads.
"Windows failed to start , a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. " Status : 0xc000000f

This was a problem that showed up a few times. There was a solution that worked for some people. I don't have time to search for it now. I can't remember the exact series of steps, but you had to drain all the power from the SSD. You switch of the PSU and connect the just the SATA cable and not the power cable. You do this a few times, including switching off the PSU.

Then connect back the power cable and see how it goes from there.
