    please help!

Ive just purchased the ASUS tf300t today on the SOLE purpose of streaming skygo, RTE player ect....

set it up and MISTAKENLY pressed update and it uploaded jellybean. cant use skygo and rte player now, in the meantime meaning this expensive piece of equipment is redundant to me at the moment

has any one any idea what i can do to get it back, or get the flash player working

ive tried the factory reset, still Jellybean.

I believe some of the stuff on the other forums means that you may aswell throw your warranty away

    thanks,
    Tom

You can get flash working which will enable the rte player. Just download the apk and then download the firefox browser.
Unfortunately you will have to wait until sky realize that not everyone has an iphone!

Yeah the text can be fuzzy alright but if you can figure it out the video works perfectly!
Not sure how to revert to ics but I'm sure it's possible.
I'd expect skygo on jelly beans within 4months.

i hate to be the one to tell you this, but i wouldn't be buying anything solely because of flash, it's about to become a dead format as HTML5 takes centre stage.

ok i dont know anything about this. can somebody tell me:
    1. can i just get back to ICS the way it came ot of the box today?
Skygo is the main priority, rte player not so much, and i know skygo plays on ICS

    2. if i cant get ICS back, best way to use RTE player?

    3. no way to use skygo unless i have ICS?

    sorry about q's

    Thanks,
    tom

I've an iPad and the RTE player works fine and so does Skygo so not sure why you thought they wouldn't work.

Anyway, you can root your device by following this guide, then you can install an ICS rom

A quick google found this Restore ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T to Stock Android 4.0.3 ICS Firmware.

Haven't looked at it but the title says exactly what you want.

RTÉ Player needs an app to work on the iPad though.

Thanks but imnot advanced enough for that and doesn't that void the warranty?

It would probably void it alright.
Calm down and someone will give you a solution soon. The main problem here is rte player and sky app aren't up with jellybean just yet. You could wait a few weeks...but I wouldn't..

Second to that you can flash 4.0.4 if you root. I'm unsure if it's detectable but since it's not a major device it might have a medium degree of difficulty...

Third is get the apps working on jellybean. Or a workaround. You can get flash working on Firefox and then your streams play through that. I'll post a link to how do that later today.
It's probably best bet as involves no warranty voidance or deleting stuff..only thing is u can't just click the app, but bookmark Firefox app be just as quick I guess :)
Jellybean is new so most app developers just aren't fully ready yet.
Besides that maybe someone else can suggest how to get the apps going

Just wait, the apps will be updated before long

It's not just Jellybean that's the problem. It may be the Asus implementation. I have Jellybean on my Xoom and RTE Player XL works fine.

If you read your warranty you will most likely find it won't.

Where did u get the rte player apk file op, if you dont mind me asking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

Thanks for all the replies i guess im just stuck with it . As a side Q, ive nothing to compare either the tab or jellybean to, but i find it surprisingly unresponsive. Has anybody else found this the case?

    Thanks, tom

    Have you rebooted since updating?

Also, in place updates can cause problems, do a factory restore, should be snappy as can be after.

Do i have to backup before factory restore and i wont lose my settings?

Even if u do revert to ICS Skygo won't work. I tried every workaround when I had ICS on my TF300 and there's no way to get Skygo working on ICS or Jellybean. If u just want something to work the rte player and Skygo then an iPad would have been the perfect way to go. Sorry I didn't pay the extra bit and stump up for the iPad myself. In all probability sky will never support the tf300 on ICS or Jellybean. There's forums on the XDA website that explain it all in more detail.

Sorry to repeat what's been said, but there is no way to roll it back to ICS.
The great thing about Android is the fact that it updates to the new OS so quickly, although in your case, that's not a positive note.

Rooting your device may void your warranty but you can remove the root with a simple Factory Data Reset. You would lose anything not backed up to Google servers when doing so.
If you Root your device and install a custom ICS ROM make sure you pick a stable release. Don't go for the newest if it doesn't state that it's stable.
Rooting (hacking) your device and installing a ROM can cause serious problems if not done correctly, even to the point where your device can be rendered useless if there are mistakes made.
Rooting will allow you more access and can be great if you're an experienced user, but if not, thread carefully.
As I said if you need to remove a Root you can reset to factory settings, but if you need to install the original ROM again, you'd need to go back to the manufacturer.
I'm sure the devs will update the apps soon. Jelly Bean is a huge release for Android so expect things to be updated sooner rather than later. Anyway, whatever happens, enjoy your new Android device.
