What size, what car, what model tyre?

Also, buying tyres from a car dealer is never a good idea.

Its not possible to answer that question without knowing the tyre size/model/spec.

As said though, you don't buy tyres from a main dealer as they will always be buying their tyres from a tyre center or supplier and marking them up. In some cases they will even drive the car to a tyre center and have them fitted so you aren't even paying them for labour/fitting etc.

Cintinentals are a premium brand but The likes of Bridgestone would be a better option IMO.

it really depends on the model, size, speed rating and load rating.

I got Continental Premium Contact 5 back in May for 150 each (fitted and balance) size 225/55/16..

Can't remember what speed and rating it was when I got it (Can check if you want) but that should give you a rough indication.

Check the size of the tyres on the car and pick up the phone and ring some of the tyre fitting centres to get a price - like for like ...

Not all dealers are more expensive but the cost of a few phone calls could save you some money either way.

I reckon what the OP means by authorised dealer is that he was quoted for tyres by a Merc dealer, not an actual tyre centre. You are correct about ringing around though for the best price and OP please don't put cheap Far East rubbish such as Triangles or Sunny on your car especially a rwd one.

Thats the way I picked it up OK...Main dealer.. I was just saying that not all main dealers will be more expensive and to make the calls to confirm which is best price available (In a Conti) in a like for like comparison.

    Shop around.
