petrol/miles display

    Just bought a 04 Volvo 2.5 petrol(I know)and was just wondering how accurate is this miles left guide,could you drive to within say 10 miles left on the mileage left display?

    Possibly but thats not good for the car - you don't want to be dragging any sludge from the tank into the engine.

    Thats a myth. The pump inlet is at the bottom of the tank, where the sludge supposedly is. Its drawing fuel from there all the time. Theres also a fuel filter in the engine bay.

    Don't know about Volvos, but I've often seen my mate drive a Passat 20 miles with the display reading Zero.

That said, if the range gauge says there is only 10 miles left, you will definitely get 10 miles out of it, they're usually set up to tell you that you're out of fuel before you actually are!

    Actually,now you mention it captain it does jump around a bit,so that explains it.Might take it to the last limit,can you pm me your mobile so you can pick me up if it doesnt work out.:)
    its a great car to drive for a 7 seater,even better than my previous mercedes which i would not say lightly,pity about the tax and fuel comsumption (29mpg) but was reflected in the price and knew what i was getting in to,it was trade of so not complaining,mabe get the diesal when I have more money to pay up front.
