    Hi Everyone,

Our lovely goldfish Dexter's health has deteriorated drastivally in the past two months, he started with swaying but now has come to just lie on his side on the bottom of the tank. He is fully lucid but its like he is paralysed.

He is in a 90 litre tank with 4 other goldfish and is fed sinking pellets. The water is treated with Stress Coat and another solution to neutralise tap water. We tried both Swim Bladder Solution and salt.

Nothing is working, he is now developing a sore on his side. He is still able to manouvre somehow to eat but is not improving at all.

Would you have any ideas on how we can save him?! We dont have the heart to flush him just yet!

For a start, a 90l tank is much too small for 5 goldfish, IIRC 5 common goldfish would require a tank in the region of 500 litres so, realistically, a pond would be the best bet unless you've got fancy (double-tailed) goldfish who would probably be fine in something around 400 litres (see Silverfish's pics in the "Show us your tank" thread to see a good goldie tank and the size that goldfish will grow to when kept properly).

In the meantime, have you test kits and, if so, what are your water readings?

I'd start with a 40 litre water change and then treat with a course of eSHa 2000.
