wasnt sure to post this here or in the business section, correct me if im wrong

so ill cut this story down, failed second year of college, guna take a year out and try transefer next year

but iv decided on my time out to try start a bit of a side business,
just to see would it be viable

i love computers, hardware side of things, i like the practical parts,

takeing the machine that appears dead and finally getting it to boot,

in college i was doing games development, the programming i wasnt majorly into but could manage it quite easily, but tbh theres really no practical side to it, although i plan to complete the course

so my questions are would a refurb business be a good idea?? also with repairs on the side, but ideally i like to source faulty items, fix and sell on,

i see lots of broken laptops etc on ebay, i understand that the key is buying in bulk,

over the next few weeks i plan to gather up some money and take the plunge, order maybe 6 broken laptops from the same place to cut down on p+p costs,

i hope to make €50 profit on each as a minimum,

open to all pros and cons you have??

I cant see this working mate..

We all have had this idea, or something similar at some point. But really, havent you seen flyer's hung up on every corner of the street with people offering this?

These days people who know nothing about computers will bring their broken laptop or desktop to the nearest PC shop and pay top bucks to have it repaired without ever considering other options such as the Lone PC repair guy.

And as for selling refurbished laptops..

Well... i dont think anyone would go for that unless you were posting it on Donedeal, and even then stuff like that rarely gets any hits or bids.

You really wanna think about it before throwing large sums of cash at it....

i was planing on starting slow, buy the few broken units, and if it doesnt work out then thats it, the way i see it is i should get the price i paid back, so i wouldnt lose much

i was also thinking list the items on ebay, if i could keep postage costs down surely that would reach the most customers?

iv been researching this for sometime, and see many selling on ebay and various advert sites,

i think it just takes time and determination, i know its not easy to get started
