any idea what the new one could be like

Why not design a new one ;)
Actually their prices don't seem too bad, note: I don't know who we are using at the moment, so I can't compare.

never liked that new design (prefered the original) but i'm not buying any more kit for the moment so just my 2c

What does the new design look like? I've seen some of the designs in the previous thread and they don't look very professionally designed. The pink design is great and the design does look well considered.

This thread is a bit redundant without a plan for the alternative, because people will then have to get involved in another poll about the alternative design.

Sounds to me that there are a few people here who are just uncomfortable wearing pink. I might suggest that an alternative colour combination for the original design could be the a answer, but that would require the consent of the original designer, who did a great job.

Why not stay with the current design but change to a different supplier. I find the material could be better quality. Santini for my 2c, but maybe other suppliers are not as versatile. I do think the current kit is very recognisable and looks good. Spin 11 are also offering excellent value on their elite kit, and the quality is excellent.

There is no new design at the moment. There current one is there and some people just want to order but we are giving people a chance to see which way to go

I was going to request the original one be added to the poll but I kind of like that new designs be introduced every few years. It makes me enjoy the kit all the more.

Yep nothing wrong with the design. Its the pink. It was said somewhere already for a red. That would be a lot less hassle for everyone.

If people are afraid of wearing a little pink, then they shouldn't really be wearing lycra in the first place.

Pink to make the boys wink....................that's the problem :pac:

Another one for in the pink.

Hard to beat that design really. Although I wouldn't mind seeing what it might look like with some blue instead of pink.

I know it's not exactly a bike club, but surely there should be an element of trying to develop "standard" colours rather than change each time the design does? Sports teams may change design but keep the main colours. Personally I like the bit of pink (on the jersey), but wouldn't it be handier if there were accepted/agreed "boards colours" and then it would simply be a matter of varying the design from time to time but keeping colours. Is the cycling forum the only one where a boards branded product exists?

    I don't wear red.

I don't like that one. Don't like the gradient green/yellow.

    +1 for the pink here.

For me the Black is the problem not the pink, not easily seen on a quite country road, especially if cycling solo. Something that makes you visible and keeps you safe would be my choice, without going neon crazy either.

Shame on you sir for suggesting style should have any regard to safety; that one should facilitate a driver noticing one!

(in fairness, as a driver, the less black the better)

The original kit seemed to be better quality. I have the current pink and black and never wear it because it feels flimsy, especially the jersey.

When i'm cycling in a group i don't mind wearing dark colours as a group we are visible, but on them solo runs ya the red, yellow come out. I say this as a driver and a cyclist,
Nothing worse than when i'm driving all of a sudden there's a guy, mostly invisible in Black  and me having a brown trouser moment. Back to the thread and the suggested new design is good, distinctive and visible.

There was a guy asking me just after turning onto the main road after the Healy Pass where i got my (boards) jersey ..... As i told you st the time, there's a poll up at the moment on what design to go with on Boards ..... THIS IS THAT POLL (",) !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,537 ✭✭✭✭Cookie_Monster

Black stands out very well during the day and at night you should have lights anyway so it's irrelevant. I wouldn't buy another boards jersey it it wasn't mostly black, and certainly wouldn't buy shorts in any other colour. Anyway you should have no problems see the white and pink, especially offset against the black.
I suppose we shouldn't be allowed buy black bikes or cars either?

    http://touch.boards.ie/thread/post/56447844

That thread is 186 pages long. From this I conclude the jersey must be at least somewhat visible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

I've had people comment to me that the pink on the jersey is a really great colour because it stands out and makes you visible.

If it was a green and blue jersey, I'd be worried about blending into the scenery. Pink and black? Not really.

Hi vis debate + jersey design problem = NP-complete problem.

As wikipedia says "This means that the time required to solve even moderately sized versions of [this problem] can easily reach into the billions or trillions of years, using any amount of computing power available today".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,537 ✭✭✭✭Cookie_Monster

    You must live in Antarctic?

    what makes you say that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,255 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

What price is the kit and jersey generally?

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    what makes you say that?
I think he is referencing your "black stands out during the day" or whatever it was. Black only really stands out against white.

But TBH, the pink is basically a fluorescent and bright pink, I don't see an issue. Different story if it were plain black, or black with other dark, dull colours.

Though I wonder what it would look like if the black was inverted to white (just curious) ?

So from what i am seeing here, no kit order is going in then

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,555 ✭✭✭Roger Hassenforder

this poll has degenerated into farce...

we've established members (un)happy with the current manky subjective livery, but with no intention of parting with shekels for another jersey, are to the detrient of all arrivistes, skewing the vote.

i dont know if the roumours are to be believed of Fianna Failesque voting, but bring in the ODIHR..

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 23,243 Mod ✭✭✭✭godtabh
