    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can answer this?

I divorced from my wife in 2007. At the time as there were two dependent children, I agreed to continue pay the full mortgage on the family home, until the children were no longer dependents, and the house was kept in both names.
In 2010 my ex passed away, the kids are now living with me, and the house is now in my name only.
Am I liable for inheritance tax on her share of the house, considering I paid the mortgage in full from the time the house was bought?

    Thanks

In order to answer your query, a person would need to be a tax professional, and would also need a lot more information than you've given above - in short, go get professional advice; asking on here is like standing outside your local Tesco asking passersby..!

    My apologies on that.

Can any recommend, by PM, a tax advisor in the Dublin area?

    Thanks

The house was kept in both names after the divorce. As the kids were young, the Judge didn't make any order on it, as I had consented to pay the full mortgage until the kids were no longer dependents. She also never changed her will from the time we were married, so everything came to me on her dying.

Thanks for the info, I'll give them a call on Monday.
