    ok lads im here at the top window for the last two hours spying on my neighbour i mean cocker!! a lad dropped a bitch today to be serviced now i am a fair distance away but the dog has mounted here about 15 times an hour for about 20 second intervals he looks like he is going to calf.i cant see if he is in her but would i be safe in saying he has the job done:confused:

    some bitches have heavy bleeding and some have very light bleeding. my springer bitch doesn't bleed at all and i only know she's coming into heat because of the jack russel sticking his nose half way up her a***e.

    to be sure that the bitch is ready turn her on her back and check her vagina, it should be very swollen, this is to create a bigger target area for you dog's penis. as others have stated a tied mating is what you are hoping for. if your dog is struggling to do the business it's not unheard of to have to 'encourage' the mating.

    Just curious to know how you encourage the mating Dicky? I have the strangest things going through my head at the minute so please help:D not taking the penis sorry Micky either as I have two springers I've been trying to breed for near on a year now without success.

    the hands off method: if you have a bitch that is eager but a dog that is a bit laid back then bring in a second dog (on a lead) this can trigger the other dog into action.

    the hands on method: this can be anything from holding the bitch steady to lifting the dog up onto the bitch. some lads have been known to have to guide the missile to the target area so to speak, but that depends on how desperate you are to pair them off.
