Hi! I was away cycling last April & one day rented a bike which was in retrospect too big for me.
These top triathaletes asked if I wanted to join them for a ride.
I knew they were incredibly fit, but felt up for a challenge.
Long story short; i never cycled with guys that strong before... I bonked really bad in the mountains..kept on falling behind them..ate food & recovered a bit & made it home after about 5 hours of hell! I pushed myself further than ever before. Two days later my right, inner achilles swelled up like a balloon. That was mid April. The saddle was too high & i was twisting my right ankle/foot at the end of each stroke: added up after 5 hours! Ihave gone to physio, done lots of heel raises, drops etc .. I have done a couple of sportives but not pushed too hard.
    Achilles is still not 100%
any of you got an injury like this?

    Thanks for reading!

    Hi! Just bumping this up.
Since I got the injury I have got professionally fitted to my bike and have had my cleats and shoes, saddle height etc all adjusted: this has really helped.
The bike I rented was too big, the saddle too high and my cleats were twisted after the cycle: I was obviously twisting my ankle slightly!

Would love to hear about others experience of anchilles injuries: this one is really annoying me!

Have you been to the Physio yet to get it checked out and verified that it is your achilles that is the problem?
Achilles injuries don't heal overnight and won't be solved by going and getting yourself fitted out for a bike.
You may need to do some leg strenghting work and exercises to solve the problem. Also if cycling keeps triggering it - then you need to stop cycling.

If it's still bothering you seek professional help

Thread closed as posters are not allowed to seek or provide medical advice, and this sort of thread tends to go in that direction
