Not sure if Raspberry Pi is ready with Android 4 yet.
I've been looking to make my TV "smart" the sony media box is not doing it for me as Netflix in Europe wont work on it. So I've been looking into some units on Ebay and Rasberry pi options

    I found this one.

    Advantages over Rasberry pi

    1. Its in a case
    2. wifi built in
    3. has a remote supplied
    4. Less expensive when you consider the wifi, case and remote
    5. CPU processor is possibly better/ faster, BOXCHIP A10 (CORTEX A8 1.2GHz)
    6. Comes supplied running Android 4, not sure if Rpi has this or not, the main web page still says its "on the way" been like that for weeks now.

    Cons,
    1. Does it have a GPU and CPU or does the CPU do everything.
    2. Possibly cheap build?

It has 512MB of DDR3 memory similar units only have 256.

So initially it looks to beat the Raspberry pi in most areas, however I must be missing something, I don't see anything on it for a graphics processor, so it may not have one, or a good one, it has a built in 3D graphics unit, I dont know if that means it shares the 1200MHZ CPU or if its a separate GPU. not getting a great response back from the sellers on it.

What do you guys think, would you get a Raspberry pi or this?

I dunno if you are in the right forum, but the Raspberry is more for programming and hacking stuff and is running on proper Linux....

I had the MK802 (512MB model) and it worked relatively well, had some memory issues so I sold it on and im gonna get the 1GB model, or the second edition of it when it comes out....

That said, it was a decent machine, and great things to come in that end of the market....

Have you looked at the Android Console due out in 2013? The Ouya I think its called, have a look at it, depends what your after really.....

Youre really going to want to run xbmc in the long run and allwinner apparently arent working with the xbmc devs so you might never have hardware accelerated video playback.

Id be taking a wait and see approach for the moment before investing

I have a Raspberry Pi at home and I use it as a UPNP client, I store movies and TV shows on my Galaxy S3 and push them to the RPI which is connected to the TV, it runs like a dream, playing back HD movies without so much as a stutter, I loaded Raspbmc onto the Pi and hope to setup more features over time, ie file server and torrent client

Android will be available soon for it and when it does I will be messing around with it then,
