Has anyone used this site to ship any products from the US to Europe ? I am thinking of buying a laptop from the states. What happens about the VAT ?

 Yes, I've used them. See my post below. They will give you a Florida address and you pay a subscription.
All packages are opened for inspection and they were removing catalogues ( 'to improve weight ' ) which annoyed me.
There is no escaping the customs duties and vat which is levied on the value of the item and the postage combined. As they use a courier you will find ancillary charges like'handling' also levied.
Overall I gave up on them.
I've now signed on with www.shipito.com. Thet give you an Oregon address ( no sales tax to pay in the US ) and a one off fee of $8.50 + postage by USPS .( You are asked to send $8.50 to register . This is just to test your payment ability and is used for your first order )
I placed a sample order with Amazon and will see how it goes.

    Will do.
I prefer the idea of a once off charge of $8.50 for each item and also the Oregon address.
While they use USPS, which is not quite as secure as a courier, there is some hope the goods will slip through without customs duty but you have no hope at all with a courier.

Shipito used to be good, now they have all these added charges for consolidating your package and a "processing fee" for each inbound package as well as each outbound package. Make sure to know all their charges before using their service.

    Fair enough,
the Yanks know how to charge for every trivial service.
Not sure I would want to consolidate a few orders, big packages seem to attract the customs men.
Regarding the original post, a lot of US shops will quote for sending to Ireland directly. I've ordered plenty of tools but never electrical items.
Amazon are the exception, I can't see why they are not more pro-European as there is a huge difference between the US and European range of goods.

Hi there, I am from Serbia and I shipped a package recently from USA.

I used this new service, Stackry. A friend referred them to me and I got $5 discount on my first shipment.

    Here's the site.

They don't have up front fees and they are quite affordable for me. They also don't have a consolidation fee and they keep your package 45 days in their storage free of charge.

I think they offer a good service.

    Hi JoannaT,
thanks for that. I've a few orders pending with Shipito in their Oregon warehouse. They will take photos for a $1 each and send them on , just to verify the contents.
I find them OK so far, their emails are monitored in California so you don't get the same person responding to queries.
Its nice not having to pay US sales tax .!

;) Now registered with Stackry. They seem friendly and will actually answer emails unlike the robotic one-liners from Shipito.
On researching, the whole question of sales tax in the US is complicated but Amazon only charge tax to 7 states ( California has just won the battle with them )
Stackry are based in Massachusetts which seems to be exempt so far.

How'd ye get on with Stackry in the end guys?? Looks a little too good to be true with them seeing as they're not charging fees!

Registered with them for nothing. They are now offering a New Hampshire address which is free of sales tax in the US.I have two items in storage. They will hold items free for 45 days and no consolidation charges.
Unfortunately I prefer USPS, they are still getting that organized and their website is not as good as Shipito - no photos for instance. Still, they answer emails. They have no extra charges - obviously they charge for the service.
I find Shipito more organized at present but I am having problems getting their computers to accept my address and the one-line emails from them are not helpful..
