I have tried using the CCI hollow points, but they are just a fraction too long for my magazine. Any other recommendations? I have some supersonic ones, but am afraid that the rabbits will go underground even with mod.

(going out on my first shoot Saturday :)

    lordarpad,
That's concerning - that the rounds are "a fraction too long." Even more concerning is that you are talking about hollow points, which are shorter, albeit not by much, than regular bullets.

Are there any digestive problems with the gun and ammo? Is it just a magazine issue? Is it just one magazine or does the problem occur with different magazines?

I shoot Eley subs hollow points for my rabbits , winchester secound choice.
Some rifles just don't like certain rounds, weather it be feeding, zeroing or ejection. I shoot the federal bulk box for range plinking and most of the time the empty case will not clear the rifle unless I tilt the rifle to the right while cycling the bolt. Every thing else (BB, shorts, HV) sail neatly to the right on the pull of the bolt handle.
On the positive side this will give you an excuse to shoot more in the name of product research.

regular CCIs are the standard feed of the gun. the hollow points appear to be a bit longer ... And I only have that one magazine - whichs is cr*p. S&Bs for instance the gun dislikes completely.

I think I'll try the Ely subsonics. Thanks all!

PS is the a gunshop down Carlow way that might have them?

don't think they were. they weren't much more expensive that the regulars (.5 €), and they weren't louder. I now have 525s which work fine and winchester subsonic which are very nice. BTW the problems was the magazine, just so people can unworry ;)

+1 on cookiemonsters post.i used to use the federal 525 box.just wasnt getting kills.switched to eley subs.they werent very persistent.so i moved on to cci subs.their not a bad bullet but im not gone on subs anymore.going to try a box of cci mini mags next.then if they dont suit, ill be hunting the market again.9/10 cases of lads not hitting well is according to bullets not suiting the gun (or at least this is what the local firearms dealer has taught me)
