Posted this originally in the main forum but thought I might be able to get good advice here.

I have some light scratch marks on my car in a number of places. I think I got them getting a car wash in the 24hr place in Goatstown the other week (usually do it myself so lesson learnt. Seen this on boardsdeals and was thinking of going for it. Would it make much of a difference do you think?

Also any recommendations for anywhere I could go to get someone to look and assess the cost etc. would be great. I'm based in Dublin 6.

Detailing services operate in Dublin as far as I know and a lot of the BMW drivers there over on bmw-drivers.net forum use them.
Not sure about prices but you can contact them and see.
They do great work alright...tempted to bring my car upto them to get it done as well.

There is no way that someone will machine polish a whole car for 59 euro, or 120 euro for that matter. Machine polishing, just an light (with a small amount of correction), one stage polish, takes a whole day flat out - so nobody is going to do that for 59 euro.
Id say the boards deal is more of a light polish that contains fillers; something like Autoglym SRP. So your car looks like the swirls have been removed, while adding shine too! But after a few weeks the swirls will re-appear.
The wax is heated and forms a stronger bond to the car's paint whilst also putting better use to the petroleum distillate in the wax to cut through and smooth out imperfections

Wax doesnt "cut through and smooth out imperfections", polish does....so if they dont have that right, it would make you wonder!

Cheers lads was up in Elite Auto Clean in Phibsboro today getting them to have a look over it. Think i'm going to go for a full paint correction which he says will be 20+ hours of work at around 300+

Dont know Ian personally, but my friend does and says his work is very good.

Your paintwork must be in very good condition, with only very light swirling, as it would take about 20 hours, two of people polishing, to do a full correction on an average car; from my experience! ;)
Is your car realively new? Or perhaps quite small?

In general its in good order just a few patches with swirling etc, and a few other small bits down to the metal. 2 of the panels were sprayed in the past and require some attention as the job wasn't 100% 2007 Alfa Romeo GT.

Got the car washed while i was there too. Spent half an hour on it for a tenner. By far the best shop wash ive ever seen.

Yeah I've heard that Ian does a great job on the quick washes....thats the problem with detailers....we get carried away! :p

You're in good hands with Ian - he wont give it back until he's happy with it!

J=He also mentioned that if I was to get touch ups i'd need to source the paint. Would something like this be ok?

He'd paint the places that need touch up, then when its dry, sand them down. Then when polishing the car, it will remove the sanding marks and the places that were painted would blend in well. Its not ideal, but takes the bad look away and the time to do it is before polishing, and not afterwards.
