DK Music in Newbridge (who had been closed for the past several months) are having a stock clearance in the old premises on Main Street. Up to 70% off all types of gear. The guitars obviously aren't so heavily discounted, but they had acoustic Fenders at about 20-30% off as far as I could tell. Microphones and Boss Pedals were 50% off. Strings 50-70% off.

Some nice other bits of studio gear like leads and tuners going cheap too. Also a whole heap of music books (lessons & song chords etc). I would guess it would be particularly worth a visit for those with kids getting into music.

Delighted with myself as I picked up a brand new Zoom H4n Portable WAV Recorder for €180 which was a total steal. They only had the one though I think.

Google Map location for anyone who's not familiar with the area: http://bit.ly/NEalsJ

Not sure if this is the current phone number: 045-431567

When I read the topic, I came in to ask you if they had any Zoom recorders. Well done on that H4N, crackin deal alright! Do they have any of the H2N's if the H4N's are gone, do you know? The H2N's are 200 Euro here in Ireland, so you got a steal. Do you know is there's much difference between them?

Didn't see any H2's, but you could always ring them to see.

Re comparing the rigs, my own expertise would be limited enough, but I do know the H2 is better for 'in the round' recording as it has 4 built in mics. The H4N with only 2 on-boards but plugs for 2 externals is seen as better for internal and external mic combinations, as you can do 4-way multitracking and then mix down later to suit what you want. A lot of DSLR videographers also seem to opt for the H4N for handling the audio of their projects.

All depends what you need it for really. Did see an H2 in Waltons' window (who are doing their own sale) but don't think it was reduced...
