Hey, has anyone heard anything about the kingfisher's prices this year??
Have they any plan of introducing a nine month membership etc??

I doubt they'll change it this year but I'm open to correction on that. Membership is €250 last time I checked.

No word but their lease is due for renewal now in September so it'll be bad form on the college if they don't make it a condition to have 9mth student membership. Although, they'd probably just make it 9 months for €250.

Could do with some maintenance in there too. There's hundreds of tiles missing in the pool now and most of the locker keys are now missing their straps.

Is it €250 for the gym and swimming pool?

€250 for the gym and pool for 12 months. It's a decent gym, could be a lot better though. If anyone is serious about weightlifting for rugby or other sports they'll be highly disappointed, unless you play for the college you don't get access to the 'elite' sports room which has power racks and lifting platforms among other things. I've asked about using it before as 90% of the time it's empty and not being used, but they weren't flexible in the least.

you get into most clubs for free so the 250 really isn't worth unless they've a better deal this year

The dumbbells are falling apart in the free weights section, been a problem for quite sometime, with no way to discern weights from each other by view as the numbers have all worn off, you've gotta gauge it by weight, pretty ridiculous considering the 250 fee.

The showers in the changing rooms also seem to constantly have a yellowy tinge on the floor which is disgusting, in the men's showers anyway, really could do with a proper clean up. Water fountain in free weights section and core room is out of order. Place has gone to shambles. The only perk to try make up for it is the brief view of the zumba class on the way to the gym :P

I guess no work is gonna be done since 1st years are back next week would have already been done otherwise.

Can i suggest that people fill out customer feedback forms with issues like this? I've done it once or twice and the issues have been sorted out fairly quick. We pay enough and the place just isn't up to scratch compared to other gyms.

This gym had bucket loads of potential but sadly it is rapidly heading down hill.
I was a member there last ur having been a memb in 3 other gyms in Galway previously this was closer to my stop after work.
I found it terrible to get parking even on the weekends.
The free weights as have been mentioned were never up to scratch,no numbers, thrown everywhere, broken grips, cramped area for this alone suggests a lack of thought put into it
The changing room floor was always wet and manky at times, showers not good, gym equipment regularly out of action with slow maintenance,a general feeling of being cramped.
They should have doubled this gym when initially planning it,water fountain area always damp and built over a carpet just not good.
The best gyms are the ones where the equipment runs perfectly, any glitches are fixed rapidly, space is provided to exercise in comfort and the changing rooms are clean and tidy.
I left it as I actually did not enjoy my time there,Dalthill hotel is streets ahead of it.
