Disability Allowance - Being turned down.

    I'm just wondering if anyone here has any experience at being turned down for disability allowance?
    I've spent the last 2 years on Injury/illness benefit and my stamps ran out. So i was advised to apply for disability allowance. Despite letters from doctors and specialists outlining my spinal injuries and the related effects of same, i was turned down as i was not old enough. Someone of my age (30) should still be able to work despite my injuries.
    Can anyone advise me if this is something that is just happening recently. I see plenty of young wans and young feens on the bus, dragging cases of beer/cider who have their bus pass, they don't look old enough to have ever worked. I've only had 2 sick days since i was 15 up until i had a fall on the ice in 2010 and i just don't understand it.

    I am of course appealing and the waiting list is 16 months! thats insane when i'm on reduced payment until then.

    I know someone genuine who was turned down (or taken off it) dispite having letters etc too. Dont think they were told they could work though. It's probably the norm at the moment I think.

    I know what you mean. Thing is there is that much damage on my mri and ct's that they can't really deny that i'm suffering.
    I can't say i'm holding out much hope of anything at the moment. Just frustrated and angry :(
