    Hi everyone!

I had braces put on about 6 weeks ago and went back yesterday to get my elastic bands changed. I have braces on because I had a tooth embedded in my palate so my braces are there to guide the tooth down.

Anyway ive had a fair few days where certain teeth have been sore and sensitive but after yesterday one of my teeth is incredibly sore and whenever I take a drink the pain is unbearable. It feels like the worst tooth ache I've ever had and if it weren't for my braces I would be with my dentist straight away with it.

I'm gonna call my orthodontist tomorrow but I thought I'd check here first to see is this normal? Could it be as a result of the new bands? Or does it sound like something unusual??

i had braces for a few years and when they changed the bands or tightened them, my teeth would ache for a few days. Really sore sometimes, i took a couple of pain killers to ease the pain a bit and stayed away from "hard" foods (soup etc).

I think its probably normal enough to experience some pain, i think its to do with the tooth movement to a new position, sore at the start but it should settle in a few days.
