IP44 Lighting Advice

    Hiya,

Know this sounds like a interior design question but nobody else seems to be able to advise.
Bathroom is 3250 x 3100, ceiling is 2900mm, with a 900mm quad shower in one corner and bath freestanding under the window. We also have a fresh air ventilation system in the house.
My question is do I have to have an IP44 rated light in bathroom or is it big enough to hang a standard 3/5 bulb chandelier ?
What would the ramifications be if I just went ahead and put in standard light fitting.
Final question, if it has to be an IP44 fitting can anyone recommend a retailer that would do off standard fittings as I have tried lots of places both in Cork and online and no luck.

all depends what zone the light falls in but better off to put in a bathroom globe to be safe

looks like you cant fit a chandelier

luminaires in all zones shall be so constructed that the light bulb is totally enclosed by a shade or cover

light bulbs in place must not be accessible without removing the cover

Although a chandelier by its nature is mostly made from glass (or crystal) it still has a number of metal parts such as wire links that hold it together. In a humid environment such as a bathroom I would suspect that these parts will corrode despite the fact that it is well ventilated.
