Macbook Air vs Zenbook UX31A-R4003V

So I'm looking for something very portable and I've narrowed it down to a few options. Currently I like the look of the MBA and Zenbook UX31A.

Specs wise the Asus seems to win hands down: 1920x1080, 4GB RAM, 256SSD against 1440x760 (?), 8GB RAM, 128SSD. Prisewise, similar. MBA: €1399, Asus €1349 from Komplett.

I should be able to upgrade the RAM on the Asus but I think the Apple is locked down as regards upgrading.

Being a Windows user this far, I really fancy the change to Apple, but wary of the impact of learning a new platform. I've heard that things like "Finder" are not as easy to use as Windows Explorer.

My uses would be: email (Gmail), browsing, web development (dreamweaver, fireworks, ftp, wordpress, joomla, photoshop) etc. Photoshop might be the most intensive.

I've seen Asus laptops from Komplett and they seem to have Dutch layout keyboards. Is this the case with all laptops from Komplett does anyone know?

Is the MBA worth giving a blast?

All laptops from komplett will come with US keyboard, I'd go for the Asus personally if I were you.

Why? They're the only ones doing it right :)

This is why I said personally :-), I like to upgrade my hardware and tweak my soft.
Apple products can't offer me those options at the moment.
Therefore my vote goes to the Asus.

AFAIK the UX31A has non-upgradable ram soldered into the motherboard.

The newer UX32VD has 2gb on the motherboard but also has 2gb in a so-dimm slot,so you could upgrade to 10gb(8+2) Hard drive can also be swapped out for a SSD.

I was after the UX32VD but stock times from most online retailers kept going out and out.Start of August to mid August to mid September.
Some German and Danish retailers have them but I didn't want a non English keyboard layout.
Got fed up and went for a MBA.
I've been a Windows user all my life so it's a strange world I've entered with the Mac but so far I love it. Only have it a few days so haven't really got into it too much.

I'd definitely go for the UX31A, Komplett have it for a good price, and it has fixed all the problems from the previous revision of that laptop. I am going to be picking it up myself soon.

Kompletts version is the pink tinted one (Rose gold) so make sure you are okay with the colour before purchase.

DId you get a response regarding the cooling off period. I'm interested in picking up one of these too, however if the colour is not to my liking i'd like to know if i can return it.
