Hi everyone,

Just looking for a bit of advice if possible. I have been accepted into a plc course which I am thrilled about am intend on doing irregardless of my entitlements as it was something that I had put on the long finger for quiet sometime.

Here are the diffulcties I am experiencing:

My employment ceased in January of this year, I had problems obtaining my P45 from my previous employer so I have signing on days from Feb of this year, with the VTOS it is required that you have 156 days to qualify for the scheme, I come just short of this as I am in part time employment since jan of this year, (unfortunate but fair enough). My local social welfare office advised me of this today.

I got in contact with the head of the course I am doing and explained my situation, again she told me to get in contact with social welfare regarding the Back to Education Allowance - I did this and they said as I had previously completed a PLC course a number of years ago I was exempt from this also. The lady advised me to get in contact with my county council, which I did and was abruptly told that "it was not their area and had nothing got to do with them".

What I am wondering is do I have any entitlements to any other schemes or grants? I'm sorry for the long post but I find this all a bit confusing and to be honest a bit upsetting as I have to pay the school another €200 in fees and on Monday.
