At what stage does the number of penalty points affect an insurance quote. I have heard companies are accepting 2 without problems but what happens if it is 4. Does anyone know if it greatly affects a quote?
Would it make sense to divide the points between the household?

Depends on the insurance company, most give a discount for zero penalty points these days, best to ring the insurance companies themselves as it's different for each.

Mine said they did, but then when I picked up two points, I got the discount anyway by ringing them up and arguing.

It's really hard to tell anything about this stuff, since they seem to give me at least €100 off my quote every year for ringing up and asking them to do better. Would I get better again if I had no points? Who can tell?

Renewed myself a few days ago, had all the haggling and arguing done and at the end I said that I was after getting my first 2 points in the post that morning and his response was "No one cares!" He said it to the insurance co. (Axa) but it didn't matter to them!

Do you have to declare 2 points?
