Coming up on Sept. 8th. Won't be a tear up but should be an awesome technical fight. People seem to be describing Chad Dawson as an underdog here but I don't see it that way at all. I think it will be very close, but I'll still have to bet on Ward by unanimous decision :D. Any opinions?

I'd be leaning towards Ward because he is faster and fighting at a weight he is comfortable at.

Yeah this is gonna be a tough one to call. Def a fight for technical chess match rather than an early ko. I'm gonna wait to see the weigh in to call this one.
I thought when Dawson lost to Pascal he was gassed but in his 2nd fight with BHop he had him well controlled

Well that was impressive. Dawson looked a bit off at the weight but I love watching Ward fight, the best p4p in the world imo.

No doubt Ward was impressive, but there's absolutely no doubt that Dawson was weakened badly by the weight-making.

None of the knockdown punches could be classified as a really hard, knockdown punch, yet Dawson went down so easily. Alongside that, there were a number of other times when his legs just looked so weak after clinching inside that there can be no doubt that his physical strength was seriously depleted.

Still, that's not Ward's problem and he did what he had to do. It's hard to see anyone beating him in the near future.

I would love to see ward fight from outside his hometown. Only did it against froch and that was in still in the states.

It wouldn't matter where Ward fights imo although a couple of the judges scorecards in the Froch fight only gave it too Ward by two rounds which was well off.

I think he is a cut above anyone out there at the moment, very impressive again last night, up near the top of the P4P rankings without a doubt!

Well, that's a longtime bugbear of mine, the fact that American fans and boxers whinge about non-Americans fighting mainly out of their homelands, but virtually none of their top boxers ever do it!

The sheer bare-faced hypocrisy of it and virtually nobody ever seems to pull them on it.

In Europe there are entire stadia filled to capacity for fights on a reasonably regular basis and in the papers boxing still gets big coverage. Compare that to the US (or "where it's at" to quote some).

Very impressive from Ward. I think it's a bit premature to give him the p4p title though because Mayweather is still around, but for me anyway he's second best in the world right now without a doubt. Right now I think there's a big gap in class between Mayweather and Ward at the top and then everyone else.

A lot of people would argue it's between him and Sergio for the #2 spot. Manny hasn't impressed in a long time.

That was class by Ward althou he still uses the head if necessary. Made me wonder what he could have done to Froch if he had not damaged his left hand althou Dawson didn't impose himself on Ward after round 2.
Aside from Dirrell or Bute (if he beats Froch) is there anyone else currently at supermiddle who he can fight next? I know kessler is out there but I don't think he'll go to Oakland again and Ward won't go to Denmark.
Also acknowledge Martinez or Chavez could step up. I think of those two only Martinez would step up.

Any one what the on the night weights for the fighters?

Our lads would be wise to stay far away from Ward. Dirty with the head but he made the best light heavyweight on the planet look like journeyman.
