Hi all, I need to buy a return ticket for the Stansted Express but was horrified by the price (£31.50), Ryanair do seem to do them cheaper (£25.50). Can you buy them at Dublin Airport? or can you get them cheaper elsewhere? I would get the coach but will be too pushed for time. Thanks!

I've seen the tickets sold here in Ireland at the airport but the cheapest place I've ever seen them is with the Ryanair cabin crew. It is quite handy but overpriced like all Rail in the UK. maybe go on a one-way ticket and take the bus back to the airport afterwards. Check the stansted express website, you might find some deals. Easybus is an option also.

People think flying Ryanair is cheap but when you factor in the ungodly hours they fly at, baggage expense & restrictions and the cost of using their out of city airports quite often Aer Lingus works out cheaper door to door and alot easier and less stressful.

I got the stainsted express for years but recently started getting the terrvision bus. It's 9 pounds into Liverpool street and takes about 50 mins to an hour. The train takes 45 mins.

I was over at the Olympics and the bus still only took 50 minutes and drives right past the Olympic village.

    Get the bus!

+1 to the Terravision bus. Depending on the time of day it might actually beat the Stanstead Express train (they both arrive at the same station) which is more akin to the DART in terms of the pedestrian speed. The prices for the STN express are outrageous in the extreme.

Another +1 on the terravision bus. It's the cheapest of the lot, particularly if you book a return online. £14 return off the top of my head, £15 at the airport. The one minus is that it's every half an hour at peak times opposed to every 15 minutes (i think) for the stansted express but it's essentially half the price of the train and almost as quick.

I'd check the timetables on their website before deciding to go with it just to be sure it leaves at a time that suits, if time is an issue.

I used easybus and this was great value. Again took about 50 mins into Liverpool st.

The Stanstead express is a rip off and can sometimes bump up the cost so you might as well fly into City or Heathrow where there are cheaper transfer options.

If you book in advance or are flying in at unpopular times, you can book the Easybus for next to nothing! It leaves Stansted every 20 minutes or so, and brings you direct to Baker Street without stopping, would definitely recommend it.

First time using Terravision I actually went to get the Stanstead express but for whatever reason some incident on the line perhaps they were not running and instead using a replacement bus service which cost the identical price to the train ticket, something mad like 30 odd pounds return. The guy at the Stanstead Express ticket desk just leaned over and whispered ' upstairs, Terravision 8 quid and smiled. So that was that as they say. Haven't used Easybus but also hear good things.

Thanks for the advise all, I've booked the Terravision. Will let you know how it goes. I refuse to give my money to the rip-off that is the Stansted Express.
