    i have a asus x5dc and it wont boot in to the HD i get a - in the top right corner so i got a windows 7 disc and was goin to reinstall it but it cant get past the starting windows logo any idea whats wrong ?

    Reseat the memory modules and run Memtest86+ (download it separately or get UBCD for further diagnostics).

    found the problem the Hd was ****ed when i took it out it the windows cd worked fine so i put my hd in it and it came up blue screen then it ask me to repair still nothing then i but my hd back in to my laptop and it worked fine

    7B error is an inaccessible boot device error. Something is wrong with the Operating System integrity. And yes, this can indicate a disk hardware issue, but try the recovery DVDs and reformat the PC. Worst case scenario, you might need a new hard drive.

    If you need files off the PC there are tools in UBCD to try and migrate those, or you can get a SATA-USB cable to interface the hard drive directly with another working PC.

    LOL, nothing wrong with any "integrity".

    OP installed a HDD from another laptop (for testing purposes) and Windows boots up with a BSOD which is normal when you install a disk from another computer, e.g. 7B if the required SATA driver is not installed.

    Didn't read that part. Yes, you will certainly get funky issues when you do random brain transplants.

    Not likely. Windows 7 has all the SATA operations stuff lovingly baked in like your grandmother's cookies.
