It all depends on what has happened. The headphone jack in my iPod classic went and I was able to fix it at no cost by just resoldering a connection that had come loose from the board. Some Macbook models incorporate an optical port in the end of the jack so if the socket was defective I can see sourcing an original component and fitting it might push the price and complexity up.

€350 sounds a bit steep to me but then I don't know if it would take 5 minutes to get to the plug or an hour.

There are fixit videos for lots of stuff on the net. Have a search for the model and the problem.

Cheers man. I'll check that out. I actually went back and looked at the quote and it was 305 + 23% vat for a new logic board and 100 + 13.5% vat for labour. This is without even looking inside the mac.... I just can't believe it could cost that much..... if i had that kind of money i'd just save and buy a new mac.....

€488.65??? Welcome to Planet Apple :D

I'll get a brand new Core i5 laptop w 6 GB RAM for that, oh yea, it also has a headphone jack. OK, no Apple, only Hewlett Packard... but still.
