Absolute robbery and illegal unless he's a licensed game dealer.

To sell the deer to a game dealer its about 1.80-2.00 a kg and if they were fallow bucks they might be around 40-50 kg average without the head or organs.. so deduct weight for the chest/rigcage/front shoulders and you aren't left with that much..

and thats presuming its decent sized bucks. Doe's would be 20-35 kgs.

so yeah he's trynna rob you and have you buy illegal meet.

Id hope it would be 4 deer and their rear legs. Not much to sell off the front legs.

2 euro a kg, most game dealers here don't even touch it, just get it inspected by a vet and then its shipped straight off to France or other countries.

Taking that the leg of lamb is 12.99 per kg in tescos last week adverage leg is 3 kg your looking at 38.97euro x 8 is 311.76 euro .

Venison is normally about 16 euro per kg to buy from shops so 8 legs at 3kg per leg is 384 euro . Being bought correctly from a butchers with a game licence .

Buying off a hunter is illegal and although cheaper that buying it in a shop . If you found a hunter that shoots deer there is nothing stopping you from bartering with him . 200 is to much for a meat being sold illegally .

get in inspected b a vet or a trained hunter nowadays no need for vet also anybody with no trained hunter licence going to dealers will be charged for getting rid of the head and the heart and lungs roughly 8 to 10 euro per animal i was told all this the other day

This has been done before and I got one of the lads to ask the guy who runs the "trained hunter" course.

A vet must still inspect the carcass. The trained hunter course means you can inspect the organs and head and don't need to bring them but the vet MUST inspect the carcass.

Expect to see alot more of this happening,as times get tougher, these game harvesters will start selling carcasses out the back of their jeeps to anyone with a few bob and a freezer to fill..Thussly avoiding paperwork with game dealers, and getting cash alot quicker.

Reckon I had some of those harvesters knocking around a spot where I have permission tonight. I was parked up and a car came driving down the lane into the bog. Spotted mine and reversed and turned about. Shortly after a small van came driving through as I was making my way from the land where I have permission accross the bog adjacent to it. Suffise to say I was very liberaly shining the torch about.

Bury the head, feed the heart and lungs to your or someone's dogs. Even better, slice up the heart in thin slices and pan fry it in butter, it's lovely.
the tongue also is a lovely bit of grub but you'll need two or three to make a meal for a few people out of it.

Selling hind legs for 25euro each would be very good deal, great quality meat, wild not farmed. Tender loins 15 each and shoulders 10 for both. Heart, liver, kidney, ribs and bones 10. 100 for the lot bagged and ready for the freezer. Sounds like a great gift in return for a gift of 100. (If head shot) Then for the bucks- burgers.

I just like being outdoors and happy to give friends great quality meat.

Considering ethics opposed to eating chickens and pigs I would pay 100 for a deer ready to go, I wouldn't buy it off somebody I didn't know personally and trust. As with getting 2euro Kg, that couldn't be sustainable.

Once greed doesn't kick in which often does in Ireland couldn't argue with giving a friend 100 for butchered deer. (Maybe I am really slow at butchering 2-3hours from start to finish) Once lads aren't supplying the whole town and lamping everything that moves.
