Problem with car lights control

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place, but I need some advice on a problem with my car lights. I left the driver side window down when it was parked in the drive overnight, during the recent hot spell. Of course there was a thunder shower during the night and the next morning the driver seat, steering column area and dash looked like it got petty wet. A couple of days later I started to notice a problem when using the car lights.

First the front spots wouldn't work when I turned them on. Then the car lights were turned on, even though the control switch was turned off. So I'm now driving around with the car lights on all the time. Once I stop the car and turn off the ignition, the lights then switch off. Headlights and indicators are working normally. So I'm just wondering did the rainwater get somewhere it shouldn't be and how can I resolve this problem?

@ 19:33 - forgot to mention earlier that the car is a Skoda Octavia.

Vag cars?...... Pathetic . Some poor unfortunates might need to drive a certain type of car, that makes up for small cock syndrome. Thankfully I don't need to.

    :o

My apologies, I didn't know that 'vag' was an acronym for the above group.

    It's a 2009 model btw.
