I have an old Fiesta '99 reg that my missus may need for driving around with the baby.

Is it possible to retro fit an Isofix on a car that old?

No it not as the isofix brackets are part of the chassis..

    Short answer, no.

Longer answer, you don't need to. You can get a number of seat bases that attach to the car using the seat belt and a support leg. Once this is fitted correctly and securely, IMO it's nearly as good as Isofix. You just have to remember to check it isn't working its way loose periodically. Then getting the seat part in and out is just the same as with an Isofix base. We have the same problem with two old cars and this has worked very well for us. You could also fit a suitable seat with just the seatbelt and no base (ours could actually be done both ways), but it felt very insecure in comparison to fitting with the base and I never left the driveway with it like that. Mothercare and Tony Keeley's (and probably many others I don't know of) will trial fit the bases and seats for you into your car to see what fits best and is easy to use. I bought online afterwards due to price, but the service is useful if you're unsure what's available to fit an older car.

The car could potentially be ISOFIX prepped, in which case its a case of fitting the correct bracket.

If you look at part 11 in the link here (its a BMW - but same concept) you'll see the bracket bolts into the car. The hole for the bolt obviously needs to be there in the first place. Might be worth checking with Ford themselves.

Very unlikely on a 1999 Fiesta, the bodyshell of which is just reheated leftovers from the 1989 Fiesta.

Which in turn is the reheated leftovers of the Mk1 Fiesta from 1976:cool:!
