I got a 2002 passat tdi with brake indicator on on dash,
took off both wheels and looked at pads and there is a plenty of pad left and should do another good while.
someone suggested to nip the wires on both sides and join them and i cut the wires about 2 inches from plug and joined them together but light remains on.
    cant figure it out

    Ta

It can be disabled using vagcom. Otherwise you'll have to find the break in the wire. Could be anywhere.

Cut the wires before it enters the brake pad and twist them together as seen here

    http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/susp_whls_brake_steer/brakesensor.html

theres instructions on how to trace it right back up there aswell.

When you say you took off both wheels, do you mean front and rear?

no..took of front left and right as indicator
    wires on both sides,
i beleived that once the wire were cut coming out of plug and joined that it would put light off but seems not the case

They're only on the front pads. If you have ABS be careful.

Have a look for a break in the wires. Might only be a pinhole. If you have no luck it's a 2 minute job with vagcom or vcds.

it might be the plug that is damaged.
try looping a wire to both of the connection on the plugs on each side.
