Hitachi 3Tb external drive issues

I have this drive about a month now and I am having issues with it not showing up when I reboot/shutdown. Basically it works, but when I reboot/shutdown it might load and show up or it might not, then I have to unplug the usb and/or plug and then it shows up.

    I have tried
Different usb ports on the front and back
Changing various different settings in the BIOS

I have another drive, a western digital one that works grand, so it’s not an usb/pc issue.

Any ideas? Do I start looking to return it to Komplett?
    Thanks for any help/info

Your system may not be set up to read HDD's greater than 2.2tb.
Check out your motherboards vendor to see if there is an update for the chipset and if so, the update will allow the reading of drives greater than 2.2tb.
