Another PSA license question

    Hi folks,

    The two options I have are the usual 1) Security Guarding {Static} & 2) Door Security {Licensed premises}.

    Basically I'm looking at something like Securicor type work, in cash transit vans etc etc. Not interested in doing bouncer type work & would prefer something a bit different, like the private security stuff/cash vans etc.

    Would the static security guarding license open that option up to me at all, or is there something different I should be looking at doing?

    Cheers for any help

    Firstly you will need a Cat C licence for most CIT jobs and they are hard enough come by. Also don't expect wages to be great, well known company was offering around the 12/hr mark for a casual position.
    Also you must have a clean record and be prepared to undertake certain security measures in your lifestyle. So you wouldn't be boasting down the pub about your job!

    Im not too sure about PSA licences, none seem to specify which is necessary for CIT work.

    Also securicor doesnt exist anymore, big names now are Brinks,G4S,Senaca,Omega,GSLS....maybe more, all available on the psa website anyway.

    Have you any background in security work?

    Static licence will do for CIT, there are not many jobs out there and its getting harder to get a decent hourly rate and the bigger problem now is getting enough hours. Most companies are not giving full time hours to new employees.
    I was at an interview a couple of months ago where I was offered €8.65 an hour and I have a lot of experience in the security industry. Needles to say I did not take it.

    Yeah I've been looking at that recently, cheers. The jobs themselves are hard to come by or the license?

    Lol, yeah not the kinda job you wanna be broadcasting ;) Regards the money, I suppose you have to start somewhere. Is there potential to 'move up the ladder' in the field?

    Yeah it seems vague, & don't wanna waste time by doing things I shouldn't or not doing things I should etc etc

    Not in the private sector no, it's something I'm looking at though. I'm not interested in bouncer work or anything like that, I'd like something with a bit more profile in it.

    Well thats good anyway if the Static license will open up CIT {Cash In Transit I assume? :o}

    Sounds pretty woeful on the prospect front though from the offer you got :(

    Thanks for the input too lads
