Ecogen - 1KW electricity from LPG Boiler

The idea is that you can get 1KW of electricity from the boiler heat using a Stirling engine. In theory you could export some of that electricity to the grid and get paid for it.

Just wondering if anyone has real world experience with them.

Is there a similar system for Natural Gas ?
How is maintenance / repair expensive / reliability - is it like condensing boilers where you loose a lot of the efficiency on other costs ?
What is the payback time - or are they really only of use if you have the heating on most of the time anyway ?
I can't find prices for the boiler itself.

I'm guessing the Calor LPG units are these ones.

I checked out this type of unit last year. I decided it wasn't suitable for my house mainly 'cos I try to economise by running the boiler for as little as possible. The unit only generates when the boiler is running.

    Also IIRC they are noisy.

I've only crossed swords with industrial units. Nat gas powered Mercedes engines in them. They where very efficient in the winter but in the summer they had to dump the heat they produced so this dragged the efficency down.
