What to do for parents/grandparents

I've been researching for a while here and am not entirely sure what the best option is for parents/grandparents...

Parents: - live in Co. Monaghan and currently have UK analogue up to ch4 (channel 5 a bit fuzzy) on a really old ariel. They have a freeview tv that picks up freeview sometimes (seems a bit weather dependent)..

Is the best option to upgrade the aerials to see if improves signal and then see if after Oct 24 the freeview channels are good then get them Freeview HD box which should include Soarview and UK Freeview...or am I wrong? Is the signal strength going to improve much?

Should we change the aerial or just install a satelittle and use a combo box - bearing in mind they have three tvs..

Grandparent - want to get something straight foreward

Currently have an internal aerial - with all UK channels up to ch 4 but signal isn't great - will moving the aerial outside help much?

i had considered sky - but has a cost - i had assumed that after you cancel your sky subscription then you still got the irish channels - i think i'm wrong in that though.

I know there's a lot of question there but would appreciate any help.:)

There will be a considerable increase in the signal strength from NI. There shouldn't be any need for combi boxes in Monaghan, apart from areas that already have poor or non-existent reception from the north (or if people want extra channels available on satellite, or have to resort to Saorsat for Irish channels).

Leave any aerial work until after switchover.

You certainly were wrong .... no sky sub and you just get the free satellite channels (bbc itv c4 news etc .... NO rte/tg/tv3)
