    Hi All,

Just back from doc and got the chat on getting fit and not using the car so much, loads of people are back cycling I see but I really don't have 500 euro to spend on a bike, will be looking for one male and female bike.

Where is the best value, I don't mind buying second hand bikes as long as they are in good condition,

Also what other bits do I need as I want to be prepared for whatever this line of fitness puts in front of me,

    Hope you can help

The best value can be had second hand if you know what you are looking for. That said, lots of shops will be clearing out this years stock soon and that could get you a good value bike. For your budget you could get a fairly decent hybrid new or a good road bike second hand.

The first thing you would probably need to do is figure out what size bike would fit you. Bike fit is more important than components. Go to local bike shop (LBS) and try out a few and see how you feel on them.

    Are you working?
Are you paying high rate of tax?

If so your company may do the cycle to work scheme and you can get a bike worth 500 for 250 or worth 1000 for 500..

Try Rothar for second bikes, you'll get a known quality and good after-sales
