Looking for a bit of advice here,

So, I was driving home lastnight, and pushed my clutch in to change gear but it got stuck to the floor, as far as I can see it’s a problem caused with the master cylinder – which needs to be replaced….does that sound right?

Im going to take a look later on and see if I can have a go at changing it. But when the clutch pedal got stuck a small plastic retaining clip popped off and landed in the footwell, I think I can see where it came off from but cant figure out for the life of me how to get it back in place?? Anyone got any ideas? I can probably put up some pics of the parts that im talking about when I get home later if that would help!!

    Any advice greatly appreciated! :)

    Thanks

    A stab in the dark........

Not necessarily, I dont know much about these make of cars but recently we had a problem with plastic rod that goes from the pedal to the master had broke on a Fiesta which meant the whole cylinder had to be changed.

I dont know if you have a plastic rod or a metal one or of the set up on yours, but it could only be a clip that holds on this rod has come off.If it is, a small hose clip might be able to keep it on if that is your problem, but cant say for sure obviously cause I dont know or cant see your car.

    Yeah pics would help.

Before writing off the master cylinder, have a look under the bonnet to see if there is any brake fluid leaking from around the slave cylinder mounted to the gearbox. It is more likely that the clutch slave cylinder has failed, hence the loss in clutch control.
If this is the case, the cylinde will have to be replaced and the sysytem bled up with new brake fluid.
