Hey, My price range is about 400 euro roughly. I want to be able to record and play live. What I am looking for is a synth with a variety of sounds to diversify my music, eg. strings, bass etc. Any advice appreciated!

The Novation Ultranova and the Roland Gaia would be two that I would recommend. Probably a little bit above your budget, maybe around the 500-600 range.

Not sure about the recording capabilities, but the range of sounds in the Ultranova is incredible. The Gaia might be better suited to live use though.
