    work out the costs

    cost of car - bangernomics , few hundred to a few grand

    second hand car
    so €333 in motor tax for a 1.3L car ( €1 per day)
    NCT every year so you'll need a service and parts every year

    insurance - this can be :eek:

    then add the cost of fuel €1.60 / L
    check out miles / gallon or whatever and how far a full tank will take you
    now work out the cost of filling that tank :eek:

    It's €1.70/L this evening, saw some places charging up to €1.72/L in a few Topaz places. We'll be paying €1.80 by the end of October unless Syria and Iran sort themselves out.

    There are times I ask myself was I right give up personal car about 8 years back. Use public transport, GoCar and rentals if I really need a car. Then I look at prices heading towards €1.80 a litre and I say good move.

    If I remember correctly back in 2004 it was about €0.70 a litre open to correction on that.
