Munster teams not in finals?

    When was the last time there was no Munster tean involved in either the football or hurling finals?

    1998, Offaly and Kilkenny in the hurling, Galway and Kildare in the football, I was at both finals might even have the programs somewhere.

    Hurling : 2000 Kilkenny 5-15 Offaly 1-14
    Football : 2003 Tyrone 0-12 Armagh 0-9

    IF Mayo were to beat Dublin then it would be the first Connaught - Ulster final since 1948, whne Cavan beat Mayo.

    That's a hell of a long time

    considering that up to 2000 they have a chance to have that combination 2 out of every 3 years before that makes it such long time.

    What is also interesting is that between '74 and '91 Ulster and Connaught teams only contested All Ireland finals when they meet each other in the semi final, and of course won none of those finals

    Connaught teams are in or around the level they've always been but what's significant is how much the Ulster teams have improved. From whipping boys in the past to now regularly contesting All-Ireland finals. This will be the 6th time in 10 years that an Ulster team is in the final.
