    hi
i am thinking of buying car in near feature.I had my mind set on honda accord (03-05). 2.0 petrol
Leather seats and petrol engine are must for me.
but yesterday browsing donedeal i noticed that i can get decent bmw 525 (02-04) with leather seats and all
    wich car would be better?

i know that accords are very reliable
    bmw have higher tax

    i do ~9000 miles/year of mixed driving.
car is for myself, wife and two kids aged 1 and 5

    p.s at the moment i drive 02 volvo s60 2.0 petrol

How do you rate the s60 driving wise?

    like it allot.
dont really like suspension,a bit hard
fairly heavy on juice too. 25 mpg
    REALLY god standard stereo
    REALLY good seats
make slightly more leg room in rear, better rear suspension and that would be my dream car

Now, I reckon a 525 will not be more forgiving than an s60

if buying a accord may as well get the 2.4 the economy is just as good and more pleasure to drive.

the engines are bomb proof but check it has a service record, if a car is neglected its not good.

drive train and clutches are the main inspection points for accords.

if you can only get a 2.0 get one with hands free and sat nav, will have to be uk car.

If you didnt mind the extra tax I would be getting the likes of a GS300.

I'd agree, the GS300 sounds like what you're describing.
The 5 series is a decent handling car, but comfort is not it's strongest point in terms of a supple ride. It'll certainly be behind the S60 in that regard. The Accord is an excellent car, ultra reliable, but it won't feel as up market as the 5-series simply because it's 2 car classes below it. Having said that, it does offer a more comfortable ride on rougher roads than the 5. But the GS should give you the plushness of a 5 with lots of comfort and reliability.
You should drive them all though for an extended test drive over crappy roads.

OP you really should take the 525 for a decent test drive over roads you know if possible to see if it's the car for you. As said it's 2 classes above the accord yet now they are priced around the same because of most people fear of larger engines. This represents great value for money provided you don't get a poverty spec one. The engine also in the BMW is class. Prepare for higher running costs though, eg servicing, tyres etc.

If I had the choice though it would be the BMW.

Fcuk all differ in taxing a 525 and a 3.0. If you are doing it do it right..
