New Digital SLR so needed to install a CD software on the pc, but it is not doing it and telling us we need Windows 7 or Vista of which we have neither. Our home pc is over 6 years old and sloooooow. Is there anyway round this?I am grateful for any help!!
    Thanks.

Get a USB card reader and be done with it. No software required.

Some DSLR's like my Nikon can be set into one of two modes, as a simple mass storage device effectively emulating a card reader or as a peer-to-peer device which is only really relevant if you want to do stuff like tethered shooting from the PC.

If you just want to download photos off it then look in the manual to see if you can change the mode.

If you can't then a card reader is the way to go.
