Are you able to take more than 6 modules a semester, provided there are no timetable clashes? If so, what becomes of the credit from these extra modules? Are they carried forward or discounted or what?

(Assuming each module is worth 5 credits and each semester requires 30 credits to pass.)

Yeah you can, as long as the credits add up to 60 overall (I'm not sure what the story is for going over 60 credits 'cause I've never heard of anyone doing that).

Just make sure not to have the semesters too lopsided (i.e. 45/15 or something) as the workload would be awful I imagine.

    Thanks, Seren.

I was going through the, frankly bizzarely laid out, history module structure for my second year and realised that I could add on an extra module as it filled a gap in my timetable. This got me to wondering what would happen to the extra credits that module would give me. Say if I did that module and finished this year with 65 credits. Would that enable me to skip out on an optional 5 credit module next year? Or would it not be carried forward?

Hmm, I'm going to poke around the college websites some more to see if I can find anything.

Heya I'm doing joint honours so I've 30 credits per subject this year but in my geography there was one semester where I wanted to study an extra subject and then one less the next...
Anywhoo, I contacted the department and they said it all had to be divided equally so I couldn't do that...I'd say you'll be in the same situation ..
Could be different for your department tho but better off contacting them directly :)

Really? I never asked the department I just registered and went ahead with it.
I did all but 5 credits for geography in first semester and the reverse for music.
Just the way the semesters and modules I liked were timetabled.

I did get an odd phone call mid October from Registration office saying was I aware that my modules were oddly split, but when I said yes, they just said ok, just making sure you knew?

    hey,

just wondering if anyone knows when we will be able to register? It hasn't been made available to us yet has it? I haven't received any notification from the college anyways...

I got an email from the geography department saying we can register from September 7th. I would expect an email from the college next week or early the following week with instructions.

So you still did an overall of 30 credits each semester between both subjects?

Yeah I emailed both the economics and geo departments about whether I could take them at 20:10 credits but geo said it had to be equally between semesters :/ don't see why they cant be done this way if I'm completely honest..
Econ dept never replied to it
