Going away for a week in Europe and I am trying to get travel insurance but its turning out to be a bit tricky as I live and work in Belfast (i.e live in the UK) but I am flying out of Dublin.

So I am unsure on which places to get insurance as some say I need to be a resident of Ireland and other says I need to be flying out of the UK.

I grew up in the Republic and have a PPS number, registered to vote and all that but I have been living in the North for the last two years. I have private health care in the North but I dont have anything in the south. So which site should I go for? Irish site? UK sites?

Residency is determined by where you habitually live, so in this case, you would purchase UK travel insurance. I've never seen a policy that specifies which country you have to fly out of.

You must be a permanent resident of the United Kingdom and registered with a UK Medical Practitioner. You must be in the UK at the time of purchasing the policy and your trip must start and end in the UK.

T&C in one of the UK providers.

I have another question to stick on to this, so I'm not sure if I'm putting it in the right place, My Mum and I are travelling to Majorca in Sept, shes 65 I'm 30, travel insurance seems to have shot up because shes now over 64!!

Travelinsurance.ie is looking like the most competitive and with good cover, its underwritten by white Horse, has any one ever used them please? No point booking it if its not worth the paper its written on!

Your trip would begin in the UK, if you're living there. Travel to the airport in Ireland to the airport should be included in the trip unless it has a further condition that you are *flying* specifically from a UK airport.
