I thought it shut down after the rave 2 weeks ago.

Might be under new management now.

Was there about 4 weeks ago, both sides were open but a month or two before I went and it was completely shut. Don't know what the deal is with it.

Shocking numbers. I've been myself when there was about 20 people in it!

Its a shame though as Drogheda has always had a good indie nightclub

Bring back the days of good old Man Fridays

The place used to be jammers ! Antics of all sort went on :D

I think the Purple Room serves that purpose now.

I've gone into Fusion a few times after 12 and it was just the staff and cleaners hanging around. The last time I saw it properly busy was new years and at that it was mostly people who got turned away from Earth.

    .

Havent been there in a while actually. Good spot, though I've only ever been when there's a band on

Unfortunately for drogheda, there is simply too many nightclubs, pubs, cafes, takeaways, restaurants and taxis currently chasing the amount of business in the town.

It's got 3 nightclubs, 4 if you count the Star and Crescent. Totally disagree, isn't it the biggest town in Ireland?

Paddy Connors dropping decent tunes, dancefloor made out of bamboo & fishing nets, bar in the middle of the floor, Gardai arriving in and said barpeople scurrying off upstairs like navy seals and a little man with glasses in a box who called everyone "chief"...
    ah yeah... good times!!

Not by a long way. Swords is way bigger than Drogheda.

Drogheda has a larger population by about 2 and a half thousand.

€625k!! It has great potential but not in this economy...
That's the end of an era right there!

Just cos its up for sale doesnt mean its closed yet.
But €625k for what you get is a steal. All them houses and premises.

As far as I know it closed after that rave. Apparently someone either died or was seriously sick after taking something and a lot of the weight/blame was thrown at Fusion. Such a shame as I've had some serious good nights in there over the years. In the last couple of years it was seriously quiet. Good music and great spot for a late pint but very little atmosphere. :(

    Rats

It does indeed have a lot going for it, good layout, nice beer garden and a good deal better than Earth structurally.

Did anyone else use to go into the pub beside it before 12 on a night out?

You could get free entry into Fusion when it opened as they were connected.

This rave being mentioned, was it that big event in the premises with a lot of DJs playing? Remember it being advertised.

yeh, pub use to open during the week but in last couple of years it just opened at the weekend.
imho they should never have bothered opening the new bit. the old place use to be jammed but when they opened the new bit they couldnt care less about the regulars. n then when all the new faces went back to earth there was no one there

Classic small time mentality from our cousins in the north ...:D

    That is kinda funny.

Drogheda may have the biggest population but it's a dormitory town. If you consider the amount of people who live in Drogheda, but work, socialise and shop in Dublin, plus the amount of unemployment in the area PLUS the fact that in the last few years most young people in the town move away to college or emigrate it's no surprise the town is quiet.

Fusion really ballsed up when they split into Old and New Fusion. 15euro entry, not letting people move from one side to the other and no drinks deals. I heard there was all sorts of behind the scenes drama between the owners, though I'm not sure if that was true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 698 ✭✭✭Rossin

they ballsed up by building the extension, but sure who doesn't know someone who wished they hadn't built during the boom!

    nail-hit-on-the-head!
someone saw the $ signs and made a serious mistake... why change something when it already works? Man Fridays / Early Fusion was always jammers until they changed things. I appreciate the reccesion has played it's part but there are deffo other factors at play for it's downfall.
